EYPUK Liverpool Summer National Session 2017

28/06/2017 to 02/07/2017

Empowering Europeans: encouraging participation, cooperation and innovation

The EYPUK Summer National Session 2017 will take place in Liverpool between 28th June and 2nd July. The event will bring together almost 150 participants from all over Europe. The session will include selection for International Sessions and Forums in 2017 and 2018 by the Jury Team led by Jeroen de Marteau (BE). Liverpool 2017 will operate under the session theme 'empowering Europeans: encouraging participation, cooperation and innovation', and the leadership team hopes working under this motto will enable them to give delegates a truly holistic experience of EYP: academic, enjoyable, and above all empowering. The Head Organisers for the session are Morgan Barnden (UK) and Jago Lynch (UK), who will lead the organising team in order to bring the best possible session for delegates whilst moving EYPUK in a new and exciting direction in terms of official selection as well as session efficiency. The Editor is Klara Scholleova (CZ) who will be leading a small but effective media team and documenting the exciting ideas raised during the session. The frontline between delegates and officials is always the chairs team which will be led by Laure Steinville (FR), whose experience should stand the session in good stead. Many thanks go to Liverpool Hope University for providing the session venues and catering.

Where else examine various accents English language has than in Liverpool, the centre of so called "scouse", an English dialect many native speakers have troubles to understand?

Ioana Diac and Tjalling Fokkema recorded how various accents sound like and explored how well English delegates know words used in Liverpool.

EYP is an environment full of both long-term and relatively new friendships; and at every session, new acquaintances are being made.

Our MTM Catarina chose various friend pairs at the session and examined how accurately they can answer various questions about each other to see how big the differences among various lengths of friendships are, and how well EYP connects people.

Get, to know Summer Session 2017's participants, too, laughs and special guest stars included! ;)

This day marks exactly 375 days since the United Kingdom decided to leave the European Union.
In Liverpool, we asked the British participants of the session about their thoughts and feelings about Brexit: see what young members of both camps Leave and Remain have to say one year on.

The weekend days in Liverpool were in GA spirit. The GA procedure saw innovations: all delegates were given green cards to be able to show support for points being made, and instead of classic attack speeches, delegates were given a chance to hold two position speeches per a proposing committee. Yet another element which helped the cooperative environment at the session čÄëčĺ¬

One of the keystones in building a better world is trust. Especially in these times when some important bonds have been broken due to Brexit. In order to keep a healthy relationship with the UK that is no longer bound through the EU, we must be able to trust each other, on a personal level and on an international level. Hence the creation of the 'trustfall' series, where we show trust on a small scale, which then hopefully captures the feeling on a big scale.

After the first day of GA, jury interviews and workshops; Saturday night was dedicated to Euroconcert.

Both classical and pop music, but also a poi performance, vocal groups made of delegates who met at the session or a special surprise for the session's President Laure; participants of Liverpool 2017 Summer Session showed not only talent, but also incredible support for each other, which made the event full of crystallic EYP spirit.

P. S.: GA & CC photos are coming very soon; and also stay tuned for more content and projects by the Media Team!

Any EYP session is special to its participants.

However, with delegates spontaneously singing together at Eurovillage, with completely new friendships (some resulting in breathtaking vocal group performances at the Euroconcert), with productive Committee Work and extraordinarily respectful General Assembly and delegates cooperating rather than competing; Liverpool 2017 Summer Session of EYPUK stood among other national selection conferences, and we would like to thank its every single participant for making this happen.
