Populism and Prejudice: What happened to United in Diversity?

Under the motto “Populism and Prejudice: What happend to United in Diversity?” EYP Austria will host its next National Session in the charming city of Graz. This very motto has been chosen to raise awareness on the topic of diversity in all aspects of our society. The impeccable duo Bernadette Schwarz (AT) and Fiona Rechberg (AT) will head-organise this special event together with their lovely organising team. As the year 2019 will mark EYP Austria’s 20 years of existence, the leading ladies of this NS will subsequently coordinate a gala evening to celebrate EYP Austria’s special milestone.

On Sunday, the last session of Graz 2019, the results of the Delegates' discussions got presented and discussed in the General Assembly - taking place in the magnificent atmosphere of the Styria state parliament. Eventually the session was officially closed and everyone got sent home with a great experience.

On Saturday and Sunday the Delegates were busy with creative brainstorming, heated discussing and thought-through phrasing for the resolutions they were working on under the overarching-theme of populism and diversity amongst the European Union.

Just a few moments ago, Graz 2019 has been officially closed. After three days of intense Teambuilding and heated Committee Work, the Delegates finally discussed their ideas in the state parliament of Styria. In the upcoming days we will continue publishing more photos, the session issue and several other projects. For now, we wish you farewell and safe travels home!

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of our hosting National Committee, there was a festive Photobooth ready to create some memories for the upcoming 20 years in EYP.

On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of EYP Austria the Organising Team created a Gala programme for both looking back on the developments within the National Committee and discussing the session theme of Graz 2019. Some words of welcome by guest speakers of the Styrian government and Zurich Insurances were followed by an alumni panel and a panel discussion on populisnm. The celebrations were topped off with a flying buffet and a EYP Austria cake being served.

With the Opening Ceremony on Friday evening, the session was officially openend by a couple of speakers shedding light on the theme "Populism and Prejudice: What happened to United in Diversity?" and how it could be interpreted through the academic and media work as well as through the encounters that await the participants. The speakers from the leadership of the Officials' Team were joined by a representative of the City of Graz and a Member of the European Parliament. Following the Opening Ceremony, the participants enjoyed a reception in the City Hall, provided by the mayor.

On Friday afternoon, the Delegates arrived at the session venue to join up with the Officials. They were welcomed to the sports hall in the Graz International Bilingual School by the session's President Razvan Lacatusu, where he and the Head Organisers, Representatives of the National Committee and the Editor introduced the Officials' Team. Afterwards the Chairpersons took the Delegates to their committee rooms to bond as a group and they learnt how to work together.

On thursday morning officials got to Graz together for the first time in order to get to know each other, team up and find what united us all.
