Regional Selection Conference Breda 2020

10/01/2020 to 12/01/2020

The final Regional Selection Conference in 2019-2020 will take place in Breda (North-Brabant)

The dates will be the 10th to the 12th of January for Officials (With a possibility of extra CMOJ-teambuilding on the 9th of January). Officials include a team of 8 chairpersons (leading 8 committees), a small media team with Editors and a small Jury team to select delegates for the National Selection Conference. A Regional Selection Conference starts on Friday for CMOJ-training. On Saturday morning, delegates arrive for a day of teambuilding and committee work. On Saturday evening, Eurovillage as well as an evening programme will take place. On Sunday, General Assembly will be held.

“In January 2020 we hope to build a creative, dynamic and fun sanctuary in Breda, and your help is needed!

We see a big role for all leadership to envision and shape Breda 2020 into a session that takes care of the well-being, enjoyment, creativity and connection of participants. We also believe that the academic output of a session is an important part of youth empowerment and citizens’ dialogue. We are therefore hopeful to work together with local policy-makers to create a wider platform for participants’ ideas to be heard.

Through an extra day of CJO we aim to put emphasis on inter-team building and close-knit cooperation. At the centre of the two days of CJO we put connection and setting personal goals. So that each participant at Breda can enjoy a feeling of closeness to other participants as well as develop personally.

Breda 2020 is to be a safe space for all, regardless of experience, to develop their skills and enjoy their time. Breda will be a place to pass on what really matters about EYP: enjoyment. We are beyond excited to receive your application and cannot wait to start working together with you on building Breda 2020 to be the session of our dreams!”

The last team to be announced are the Chairpersons! Under the guidance of the President and Vice Presidents, they will be responsible for the educational and academic side of Delft 2019, creating the topics to be debated and serving as mentors to the participants.

With three of our Preliminary Rounds now behind us, we are almost there! Three rounds down and only one more to go. This means it is time to get to know the volunteers of our fourth and very last Preliminary Round of the season: say hello to Delft 2019!

Our very last Preliminary Round is only one week away! Taking place in the historical city of Delft, it is promising to be a very exciting event!

We want to take this moment to thank Gemeente Delft, the local government of the city, for their support and involvement in this event.

You can read all about it on their website!

"My most memorable moment in EYP is actually not a session itself but rather the very beginning of one. Sitting down with my best friend to create a vision for our session was some of the most fun i ever had. I will never forget the countless evenings filled with quality discussions and anxious anticipation."

"I went to a session in Germany and we were staying in a school like we are now. They had very limited showers, as we do now as well. Therefore my friends and I ended up showering at 5 in the morning, after creeping ourselves out in the process of actually finding the showers in an empty and super dark school."

"When I was a delegate at a certain session, the organisers gave us the task to exchange things for bigger things with more value. My committee and I started with a pin and managed to exchange it all the way up to a tire. We decided to go to the local police station of the town to try to exchange the tire for something even bigger before we went back to the organisers with the tire to complete the task. However, the policemen thought that we had stolen it and they wanted to keep us for questioning until they realised it was just part of a game.

"I very well remember this very tense moment in committee work when we were discussing the term ‘media landscape’. There was a big division within the committee: the Dutch and the Germans were convinced that it was an actual term, while the others had no idea what it meant. It quickly escalated to the point where we were almost fighting each other.
We eventually found out that ‘media landscape’ only exists in Dutch and German."

Coffee - any participant can confirm that it really is a crucial part of any EYP experience. Yu Vos, a member of the Media Team of Haarlem 2018 made a project where she captured the stories several people told her whilst drinking coffee. Check out how some participants spilled the coffee! #Haarlem2018
